First project for the Creative Artiste Mixed Media challenge blog design team!

Hello crafty friends! I'm happy to announce that I've been invited to join the design team and the Creative Artiste Mixed Media  Challenge blog; the first Friday of every month, our mixed media projects will be posted on their blogs along with that month's challenge....we'd love to have you come and play along!

I created an 8x8 canvas using a variety of items; after the items were all adhered and texture paste stencilling was added, the whole canvas was primed with black gesso, then finished with Twinkling H20s, Tattered Angels mists and Art Alchemy metallic waxes.

You can find the challenge blog HERE...come on by and play along!

I'm also entering this project in the February challenge at Mixed Media Academy-you can find their challenge post HERE.

Rainbow of Faith Cards for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hello friends-we all have times when we can use some support or encouragement, or just knowing someone is on our side, and the sentiments on these Bella Blvd and Simple Stories faith-based papers were perfect, as was the cheery rainbow-coloured background paper. I love so many of the Gypsy Soul frames and have been looking for a chance to incorporate some of them into my projects, and I think they worked really well on my cards.

I cut all the card bases 5" x 61/2" and the patterned paper slightly smaller, trying to create a fairly even cardstock edge. I lightly distressed and inked the edges of the patterned paper, then used Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder on all three of my frames.

For this card, I used one of the Evie flourished frames, which I primed with black acrylic paint before heat embossing with Lindy's Midnight Gold. I added some bling, fussy cut flowers and a Prima rose.

This card was made using the flourished frame Karen, which  was primed in white, then heat embossed with Lindy's Silver Moon Turquoise.  Again I added some fussy cut elements and a flower from my stash. A few golden pearls completed the look.

The third card features the flourished frame Elizabeth and was primed with teal acrylic paint, heat embossed in Lindy's Merry-Go-Round Green, then rubbed with Versacolor Turquoise ink. I was going for a certain shade to coordinate with the papers and was happy with the way these colours combined.Chunky pearl hearts and tiny pink roses were added for texture and interest.

These cards were easy to put together and can be created with a variety of sentiments and papers using these beautiful and versatile frames to set them off-I hope to see how you are inspired to use them! Thanks so much for stopping by!

"Faith" Display Tray for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hello friends and happy July! I just can't figure out where this year is going! One of my goals for this year was to do more faith-based art, and I recently had the chance to get my hands on some wonderful faith-related patterned papers. The collection I'm showcasing on this project is the aptly titled "Faith" line by Simple Stories:

I added bits and pieces from these two 6x6 pads that were in my stash as well-the colours and patterns coordinated amazingly well with my main paper choice!

For most of the cut-aparts that I used, I just flipped the paper over and traced around the shape, then added a little bit  along each edge before cutting them out. Many of the images were fussy-cut, then applied to contrasting backgrounds.

I adhered all the images I wanted to use to the base of the tray (other than those to be attached to the overlay, or would overlap it.) I used foam adhesive to pop up smaller pieces for dimension and interest.

I painted the overlay piece black, then heat-embossed its entire surface with Ranger Black Sparkle glitter embossing powder. I'm normally not a big glitter user, but I really liked the way it made this project pop!

The buttons were painted in pink and yellow to coordinate with the papers, then heat embossed with a light coat of Ranger Bridal Tinsel glitter embossing powder, then tied with a piece of teal thread.

Close-ups of some of the panels  and the dimensional items added to them:

(the little pieces of clothing were from some very OLD paper in my stash, and I couldn't resist using
them to illustrate a verse starting with the word "clothe"!!)

I hope you enjoyed this lively, uplifting and colourful project of mine as much as I enjoyed creating it!  The positive messages warm my heart; I wish you all a wonderful week full of love, joy and creativity!
