COFFEE-a mixed media canvas for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hello there! It was an interesting week around here because both my best friend and I (we ride to work together) had our thermoses break so we were without life-sustaining hot beverages on our lunch break!Let me tell you it was NOT pretty...but on the bright side our crisis did inspire this canvas!

I started by stenciling with texture paste and then I attached the title and all the elements with hot glue. I primed the entire piece with gesso them painted here and there with Twinkling H2Os before adding another coat of gesso to soften and blend the colours. I misted with tan and gold mists and inked the words and coffee cup with gold and brown ink on the edges (red on the "love" ticket and the heart)

This was a fun project to put together and would be a great gift item to create for any coffee-lover! Thanks for visiting and may your week be filled with hot beverages and warm hearts!

  1. I've never had a thermos break before... how on earth did you manage that?? Love your project - some great tips there. I've never tried adding gesso on top of Twinkling H2O's - must try that :)

    1. hi Karen-one of my cats knocked my thermos off the kitchen counter while I turned my back to get the milk and my friend broke hers by pouring hot coffee in after rinsing it with cold water...guess we just have bad luck! Thanks for your kind words on my project; I discovered that technique by accident when I hated the way one of my projects was looking and was gessoing over it to start again! This time I did it on purpose :)
