Almost 3-a layout for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hello there! Since my son's 24th birthday is the 17th of April I decided to make a layout with one of my favourite photos from his childhood. I can't believe so much time has passed since this was taken....hmmm... funny he's an adult now and I'm still 29-haha! Pretty soon my kids will be older than me (wink wink)

The outfit he was wearing was mostly dark green with some navy blue so I played that up on the chipboard accents; I dry embossed the heart then painted the heart and balloon with navy acrylic paint and then dabbed some dark green on top when the base was dry. I then rubbed on some gold pigment ink. I used the same process on the gear pieces but painted them green and dabbed them with the navy blue before adding the ink.

I love that you can choose a wide variety of chipboard accents for your projects and then make them coordinate by finishing them with the same technique; then they look like they were made as a set just for your project! Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you a wonderfully creative and happy week!

Take Time...ATC and shrine for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Well it's that TIME again! I love clocks as well as the concept of time in general and fell in love with this ATC shrine right away. It was so much fun to embellish and of course then I had to make a coordinating ATC (Artist's Trading Card)

I covered the shrine with patterned paper which I tore and inked.

For the door I primed it with acrylic paint then heat embossed here and there with Ranger Distress embossing powder in Vintage Photo; I used glue to adhere the powder so it would bubble when heated for an interesting texture. The colour was a bit more orange than I wanted so I rubbed over many of the areas with gold pigment ink.I dabbed on a bit of blue ink to coordinate with the blue in the papers. A few metal charms and some cheesecloth & tiny flowers completed the effect. I used the Tulip Scroll Corner piece to fashion a roof of sorts; this piece was just primed and heat embossed with the same powder but without the glue as I wanted the fine detail of the chipboard piece to stand out.

The ATC was made to coordinate with the shrine by fussy cutting some items from the paper used to cover the shrine; I also added a cluster of the same flowers. I used a small clock from the Pocket Watch set as well and simply rubbed it with gold ink.  I heat embossed the clock hands and added cheesecloth as on the shrine. The burlap leaves were used on both items as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by; there are several different themed ATC shrines in the store and I'm sure you could find several that caught your eye; they also make wonderful little gift boxes or small storage boxes!

School Photo Board with Gypsy Soul Lasercuts and Graphic 45 ABC Primer

Hello crafty friends! So glad you stopped by for a visit...April is here and I'm so glad to be seeing all the signs of spring; by now the kids in school are probably starting to count the days until their summer holidays  just like mine used to back in the day. My son is in university overseas and just finished his application to spend a second year there, so it got me reminiscing and I pulled out some of their portraits from elementary school days.

I had so much fun embellishing Gypsy Soul's adorable mini clipboards with the sweet images I found in the ABC Primer collection from Graphic 45; some of the pieces I used were from the chipboard punchouts, some from the sticker sheet, and some I fussy cut from the adorable papers.
I mounted the clipboards in a 12x12 frame on a sheet of cork to create the look of a bulletin board.

The chipboard letters and numbers are from Gypsy Soul's Mixed Media Fragments 1...I just painted them with acrylic paint and inked the edges to complement the vintage feel of the papers.

Thanks so much for stopping by; wishing you a wonderful colourful creative day!

Altered Bible cover for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

hello crafty friends; I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend. Although I actually didn't create this project with Easter in mind, I thought it would be especially appropriate to post around this time.

Bible art journalling is a fairly new and popular creative outlet and I recently purchased this lovely interleaved Bible for that purpose....interleaved means that there is a blank page next to every printed page for art, notes, or decorative lettering.. The cover looked like this:

I started with one of the beautiful Gothic crosses as the focal point and used flowers and a dragonfly from the spring shape set as well as some flowers, buttons, and metal bits from my stash.

I dry-embossed the cross with a damask embossing folder to add interest and texture. After attaching all the items where I wanted them, I stencilled with some texture paste, then painted over the whole surface with tan acrylic paint as close as possible to the original cover. I added colour and shimmer with a variety of spray mists.

I love my new cover and I'm enjoying the chance to illustrate my favourite verses; keep Gypsy Soul Lasercuts in mind for altering a variety of surfaces!

Mixed shape mini-album for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

hi folks! Spring is right around the corner and I'm so looking forward to the outdoor activities and get-togethers that will be a part of the months to come. I decided to capture some memories of one of those events in this mini-album.

A crafty buddy sent me a cute 6x6 paper pad a while back and it was perfect for these photos of a family BBQ we had the last time my dad came out for a visit. I printed four images on each 4" x 6" photo and they fit the small pages perfectly.

On some of the larger pages I was able to use two photos. There were a lot of group shots and I wanted to include as many of my relatives as possible in the album. I also wanted to focus on my father, as he was the guest of honour; he was visiting from out of province and this was the last trip he made before a series of strokes left him too weak to travel. This album is a perfect keepsake of a special family day.

I kept the design simple, adding a few popped-up fussy cut images from the paper and a bit of word art here and there. Some coordinating fibers on the ring finished it off. I love that you can finish an album like this as simply or as elaborately as you want and use it for any possible theme. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Time in a Bottle-steampunk clock for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Jim Croce definitely had it right...."there never seems to be enough time to do the things you wanna do once you find them...."so I wanted to use that sentiment in my clock project (and yes, I know you're going to have that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day now!)

I attached strips of foil tape to cardstock close together ,then ran it through my Cuttlebug in a gear-patterned embossing folder before colouring it with a variety of brown and gold alcohol inks. I then rubbed a little distress ink over the raised edges. (Once you emboss foil tape the seams don't show.) It cuts beautifully with scissors or a craft knife, so fitting it to the shape of the clock and putting a strip around the side was easy.

For the wings, handle, and legs I painted them with acrylic paint then brushed them with clear crackle finish  (Ranger Hard Candy) When that was dry, I rubbed gold and brown ink over the surface to accentuate the cracks.

The bottle came from Dollarama and the clock inside was a brad; I clipped the ends off and bent it a little to get it through the mouth of the bottle then bent it back with tweezers. I found the background image on Google Images. A little curled twine finished it off and I mounted it on a small piece of corrugate because where I wanted to display it a flat surface was more practical ,although the clock stands very well on the feet once assembled! Hope you like my creation and I also hope you find the time to do something you really "wanna" do today! Thanks for stopping by!

Friends....a layout for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hello dear crafty friends! This past weekend I was at a crop with some ladies from church who tend to do simple layouts, many with multiple photos. A lot of us began our papercrafting that way and then found our personal style and preference along the way, myself included. I began this page while I was there and decided to stick to a simpler style that showcased the photo, which is very special to me.

My father has had a series of strokes and can no longer get around on his own; his best friend took him "skating" one day-he posted a video and it was clear my dad was having a blast! Everyone should be blessed to have such a wonderful and caring friend. I used this "friends" word piece to emphasize their bond; after priming it with gesso I heat-embossed it with glitter embossing powder and mounted it on patterned paper that had foil stars on it.

The snowflake strip was finished in the same way and embellished with pearl centers.

I had so much fun with these cute little skates! I covered the boot with patterned paper and painted the blade with silver acrylic paint. I then cut shaped pieces and stitched "laces" with embroidery floss before attaching them to the skate.

I used the gorgeous Kaisercraft "Silver Bells" collection for this page and added some stencilling with texture paste. I plan to add some journalling before I put it into my album.

I love how versatile Gypsy Soul lasercut pieces are; great for layouts, cards or a variety of 3-dimensional projects...along with anything else your lively imagination can come up with! Have a great week and I wish you creative bliss!
