Believe in Magic-an art journal page for Scraps of Elegance and Gina's Designs, featuring ColourArte

As soon as I saw the new Dragon Shapes Set, I knew I HAD to play with one right away, and I figure if I believe in dragon magic, why shouldn't I believe in fairy magic too, right?! Makes perfect sense to moi....
I had originally planned on saving the ColourArte goodies to use on a canvas for next week, but after I ran the dragon through an embossing folder and got a look at the awesome texture, I had a brainstorm and decided I wanted to see what the colours and shimmer of the paints would look like on these pieces-
I love the versatility of the papers in this month's Scraps of Elegance kit; I created a frilly girly layout the other day and then this distressed vintage style journal page.

Botanical Tea card and tag for Gina's Designs

hi-today I'm sharing a card and tag made with the lovely Graphic 45 Botanical Tea collection and Gina's Birthday Shape Set and Spring Shape Set. Two of my good friends have July birthdays and this card was made for one of them and included a "voucher" for girls' lunch out one day soon.

I covered the lower part of the chipboard cupcake with pleated paper top create the look of a baking cup, then used texture paste for the "icing", on which I sprinkled glass glitter. The candle was painted with acrylic paints and the flame was created with cheesecloth and Gelatos. The sentiment was painted with pearlized acrylic paint then rubbed lightly with pink paint along the top.

Here's the inside of the card; I used a fun pop-up design.

Continuing the theme of the Botanical Tea papers, I used a bird and a dragonfly from the Spring shape set. The bird was covered with patterned paper,  then I added a wing with foam tape and inked the edges. The dragonfly was painted with pearlized paint then lightly rubbed with wedgewood blue paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a terrific week!

my beautiful animal-lover: DT layout for Scraps of Elegance

Hi! I created this page with the lovely June Scraps of Elegance kit, "Stephanie's Treasure; my daughter Elizabeth was in Kelowna BC at a place called Kangaroo Creek where this photo was taken.

I did some tearing and distressing, hand-stitching, and stencilling with homemade texture paste. The foliage was cut with a Memory Box die and I used a Fiskars punch for the edge work. Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Creative Life-art journal page for Gina's Designs

Hi! I had as blast putting this lively page together with some bits and pieces from my stash and some Mixed media Fragments from Gina's Designs.

I belong to an art journalling group that meets once a month, and June's word prompt was "create" or any variation on the word. I love this quote and to me it sums up  papercraftintg...there is no "wrong" because there are no rules and no mistakes! I painted the fragments with acrylic paint then stencilled onto them with my beloved homemade texture paste.

Journal pages ideally should remain fairly flat, but I always find room for a few goodies and a bit of dimension! (no rules, remember!)I did some misting, paint spattering and brushing, stamping, stencilling, printing, gluing, sticker-sticking (and the white strips are drywall tape)....not much I didn't try on here. Remember next time you create, there is no "wrong" in papercrafting-just have fun and make art!!

Sunshine Shadowbox for Scraps of Elegance and Gina's Designs

hi! Ever get a line from a song stuck in your head that you can't get rid of no matter what? Lynne here with a shadowbox project inspired by one of those lines (some people call it an "earworm" when that happens, but that expression kind of creeps me out, as I'm not a huge fan of slithery things!)

I used the lovely June Scraps of Elegance kit, "Stephanie's Treasure" for this project-the sunny colours of the papers and florals inspired me.
The pretty chipboard shadowbox and other pieces are from Gina's Designs; the sun I covered with coordinating paper and inked the edges. The bird piece was  dry-embossed, then painted and inked it to add dimensional colour. The lattice heart and small flourish were painted with acrylic paints.

The fussy-cut butterflies and bright florals added to the theme; the adorable glass squirrels are just a personal touch by "Scrappy Squirrel"!! The cheesecloth made me think of floating clouds and the song lyrics just plain make me happy! Have yourself a happy, sunshiny day, and thanks heaps for stopping by!

He has made everthing beautiful....art journal page for Scraps of Elegance

Hello there! I've fairly recently gotten involved in art journalling and it has been an interesting challenge for me. If you've seen my layouts, you know I like to pile a lot of "stuff" on them, and since art journals by definition are in a book, the pages have to be comparably flat. While I can still include stencilling and chipboard, bulky flowers and metal embellishments are out!

The second challenge to me is to actually include journalling, something I seldom if ever do on my layouts. I have been trying to use my own handwriting to keep it personal, although I do default to letter pieces for my titles a lot of the time! The white ones here are Thickers, and I love them! This is one of my very favourite Scripture verses, and I often use it to keep my grounded when I get impatient...have a wonderful day!

Sweet Summer Layout for Gina's Designs

hi there and happy summer to you ! This weekend marked the official beginning of summer in this part of the world, and I hope you're enjoying sunny skies and warm temperatures, beaches, barbecues...well, you get the picture!

When my kids were younger, we often had pool parties in the summer where they'd invite friends from school, church, or groups they belonged to, and this photo of my daughter and some girlfriends is from one of those. I used the Sweet Summer Shape set to enhance the theme, dry-embossing the pieces, then painting them with acrylic paints. I then heat-embossed them with UTEE, adding random amounts of the powder to create a water-splashed effect.

Stencilling with texture paste and popping up cutout items with foam tape created some dimension on my page, and I added a few droplets on other parts of the layout created with Faber-Castell Texture Gems to continue the water-splashed theme:
Thanks a bunch for stopping by, and whether you spend your summer days in a pool, on a beach, or wherever, I wish you a terrific one!
