a taste of summer for you-beach layout for Gina's Designs

Hi! Lynne here with a beach-themed layout; I don't know about you but I'm definitely ready for summer now that Christmas has passed! I had so much fun altering the chipboard pieces from the Beach Shape Set and the banner I chose from the Banner Border Strips set.

I used homemade texture paste (baby powder recipe) to give the sand dollar a realistic finish.

For the starfish, I mixed salt and acrylic paint to get the rough effect I wanted-love the way it came out!

The banner was painted, then stamped with Versamark and heat-embossed to give a lacy effect to echo the patterns in the paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope this summery page warms up those of you in chilly snowy spots                                                                     at least a little!

Joy To The World for Gina's Designs

hi-Lynne here, hoping you're all feeling festive and enjoying your holiday preparations; I've been shopping and wrapping and baking but still love finding time to create in my scraproom!

I absolutely love this the elegant look of this Word Tree and definitely plan to order a couple to make as gifts                                      for next Christmas; I waited a little too long this year....oops!

I painted the entire surface with a coppery gold acrylic paint, then stamped a script pattern with Versamark and heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Copper, which contains bits of verdigris along with the rich copper colour.

I added some bling here and there, small wrapped presents on the base, and a frothy ribbon in a shade to match the verdigris in the embossing powder.

I added a glittery copper-coloured star to finish it off; it looks so nice on my wall unit next to one of my nativity sets. Blessings to all of you this Christmas!

Where has the time gone? Christmas layout for Gina's Designs

Hi! Lynne here hoping you're all well and enjoying this busy but happy time of year; this week I created a layout with a photo of my son just before his third birthday (he's almost 23 now!). The Skeleton Clock and hands seemed so appropriate since I was thinking about how time has flown by and how much has changed     in our lives since then.

I painted the chipboard pieces with acrylic paint and they looked nice like that, but then decided to add gold heat embossing for a tone-on-tone textured finish and was so much happier with the finished look.

I had this page finished and waiting on my worktable to be photographed when my two kittens decided it would be fun and exciting to pull everything off! Fortunately they didn't damage anything, but believe me, they're definitely on Santa's naughty list right about now!! Think I'll be finding microbeads in my scraproom for months...sigh!!

Oh well, I wouldn't trade those furbabies for anything-have a terrific day and capture those memories; time really does fly by!!

Winter Tissue Box for Gina's designs

hi there and happy December! Lynne here with a home decor piece; I used a plain wooden tissue box cover from Michael's to create this project and lots of wintery chipboard pieces from Gina's, as well as papers from the Authentique "Cozy" collection. I decided to use a winter theme rather than a Christmas one so I can leave it out for a few months rather than just for the Christmas season!

I painted the mug, then heat embossed a swirly pattern onto it for texture and a bit of shimmer...I can just smell that hot cocoa....mmmm!

The snowflakes were heat embossed with Aged Ivory, then rubbed with a bit of gold gelato to warm the tone a bit.

I covered the beautiful bird piece with texture paste, then painted it before spraying with opaque white mist.

I love these mittens!! I want more of them to use on Christmas cards now after seeing how cute they look! I painted them with acrylic paint, then dabbed on a little taupe ink to give them a vintage look, added a strip from the patterned paper and popped them up a bit for dimension.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and hope you're having a great time creating seasonal projects too!

Live Joyfully-Scraps of Elegance and Gina's Designs

I just had to scrap this photo taken at our family BBQ this summer, as we all get together so seldom.  I loved the contrast of the pastel paper and florals from the November Scraps of Elegance kit, "Sweet Sentiments" with the black accents, including the Scribbled Frames and Lines from Gina's Designs.-BTW the green polka-dotted flowers are made with the Prima packaging from the flowers in the kit.I use everything-LOL!

I added a little stamping to the background around the photo as well as a few paint strokes, and simply painted the chipboard pieces with black acrylic paint. The three largest flowers came with the kit and the others were all diecut. Thanks for stropping by, and I hope if you're facing winter weather like we are that this summery page warms you up just a bit!

Elegant Masks-Scraps of Elegance and Gina's Designs

Hi! Lynne here with  my latest project; I've been having fun decorating my new scrap room and decided to make these to hang on one of the doors using the Masks Shape Set.

I used pieces from the Mini Flourishes-Bella Set and the Feather Shape Set and used papers and embellishments from the November Scraps of Elegance kit, "Sweet Sentiments"  to finish them.

I painted the pieces with acrylic paint then brushed them lightly with white glitter paint. The flowers were fussy cut from one of the lovely papers in the kit.

The fussy-cut dangles from  one of the gorgeous Blue Fern Studios papers were finished with Glossy accents to add strength and a metallic look. The colours and florals coordinate beautifully with the Victorian Wall shelf I finished last month with the October Scraps of Elegance kit, so my room is looking very feminine and pretty if I do say so myself!

Sisters...for Tresors Deluxe November Challenge

hi-check out this lovely fall mood board from the Tresors Deluxe Challenge Facebook page:

I loved the warm feel of the colours, the rain drops and the bird, and incorporated all of these into my page. The photo is of our two kittens, Honey and Sweetie, who are litter sisters, and also best friends.

I coloured my cream lace with mists and altered the background paper with texture paste, mists, inking  and stamping, then added Kaisercraft Droplets to simulate the raindrops from the mood board.

You can find their challenge group here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/TresorsdeLuxeChallenge/?fref=ts

Thanks so much for visiting; have a super week!

Well, I'm thrilled to say that this little album is my first finished handmade Christmas gift for 2014! My daughter recently moved away from home and has emailed me asking for several recipes, so I thought it would be nice for her to have her favourites compiled together, and this Cutout Cover Mini Album was absolutely perfect!

I painted the incredibly cute cover piece with charcoal grey acrylic paint, then stamped with Versamark ink and embossed it with black detail embossing powder to give it dimension and shine.

I used mostly Basic Gray's Out of Print line to complete the album pages, which you can see here. I left the last page blank for her to add new recipes she discovers (we are both avid bakers and cake decorators!)

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I wish you a sweet and creative day!

The green truck inspired me to use this gorgeous paper from Pink Paislee's Hope Chest collection, and the stuffed toys inspired my choice of photo. I also tried to capture the vintage feel of the photo.

Child's Play Challenges added a recipe challenge, and their blog can be found here:

Christmas cards fro Gina's Designs

Now that it's officially November, I'm ready to start thinking about my Christmas preparations; I created these cards with pieces from the Winter Shape Set.

I love that skate piece! After painting it with acrylic paint  then dabbing on some brown and tan inks for a vintage look, I poked holes with a large needle then laced up the front, and  embossed the blade and the snowflake with Stampendous Aged Silver embossing powder.

I covered the mug with patterned paper and inked & sanded the edges, then added the snowflake which                                         was painted with acrylic paint and distressed with inks. A little lace and a                                     poinsettia made with a Memory Box die completed the effect.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Best of Everything....for Gina's Design

Hi! I'm here with a layout I created using a photo of my daughter and her boyfriend on the boardwalk at Point Pelee Provincial park this past summer.

I love tearing and distressing, and the two layers behind the main paper echo the colours of the graphics; I also tore a frame for the photo.I spread texture paste on the cattails and the butterfly to create added dimension, then painted them with silver acrylic paint.  I had a great time adding a combination of mists, gelatos and inks to get the colours I had in mind to echo those in the paper and the photo. I also added a couple of the intricate doilies to finish things off...the detail on them amazes me every time I look at them! Thanks so much for stopping by-now I hope you get out your craft supplies and create something awesome!!

Victorian wall shelf for Scraps of Elegance and Gina's Designs

I was happy to be able to combine  the Victorian Wall Shelf from Gina's and  my October Scraps of Elegance kit, "Pretty Things"  to create this project; items from our cross-promotion with Craftsupplies 1 at Gina's were a perfect way to finish it off.
I added a mirror to the opening in the center and surrounded it with cheesecloth and bling. The shelf was easy to paper and to assemble; all I did after attaching the paper was sand the edges a bit and ink them lightly for a more finished look. I love the way it turned out and since I'm just moving into my new (and bigger!) scraproom, it'll be a perfect little addition to my decor. Try one yourself-so easy to match it to any colour scheme or theme you'd like!

DT page for Scraps of Elegance-October "Pretty Things" kit

Sharing my first layout as a designer for the lovely Scraps of Elegance kit club; so many gorgeous pieces to work with! I chose to create a heritage layout with this photo of my great-aunt which was taken (according to the writing on the back of the original) in July of 1915.

The kit features the Bo Bunny Madeleine collection as well as selections from the Never Grow Up line by Marion Smith designs. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Pawprints on my Heart for Gina's Designs

I created this layout as a tribute to our beloved tabby cat, Chester,
who went missing in the middle of August when a door was left open. We still hope he'll show up one day,(we once had a calico cat come home after two months)
but there's a good chance we won't see our sweet boy again.

The chipboard phrase was perfect for my title, and all I did was paint it with acrylic paint to match the paper.I love how easy it is to make pieces like this coordinate with any project!

The bridge signifies the possibility the Chester has crossed the Rainbow Bridge on his way to heaven...I wanted to give it a  pearly, dreamy feel so I painted it with pearlized acrylic paint then added a touch of white mist. I layered the pieces with dimensional tape and glue dots.

Altered Tin for Gina's Designs

I'm thrilled to announce that this is my first post on the Design Team for Gina's ; I guest designed there for the month of September and was invited to join the team on a regular basis! I love working with Gina's chipboard products and I'm so looking forward to having the chance to create with more of them and to be part of the DT family !

I altered a tea tin that I found in the cupboard after my son went back to school; I couldn't wait to use the new Graphic 45 line "Raining Cats and Dogs" and the adorable chipboard cats from Gina's, and thought this would be a perfect spot to store kitty treats!

I used black flocking on the cats-which would make them ideal for your Halloween-themed projects!! The flocking creates a great "fur coat" for these adorable pieces.

I couldn't resist adding the crown to this pretty fussy-cut kitty; any cat-owner knows who is REALLY the king or queen of their home-meow! The crown came from the small Honeycomb and Bees set and is a perfect fit!

I LOVE BOOKS

I had fun with beautiful papers, lots of texture paste and stencils, and some fabulous chipboard from Gina's Designs while creating this layout!

I chose to document my love of books and reading here and am submitting this page for two challenges, one at Berry71Bleu which asks you to scrap about something you love, and one at Scrap Around the World, which provided this beautiful mood board for inspiration:

Perpetual Calendar project for Gina's Designs

Hi!I don't do a lot of home decor projects, but this one really caught my eye when I saw it in Gina's store. It was easy to put together, fun to decorate, and is a sturdy and handy calendar that looks great on my wooden buffet-I had it on a cute little wooden table in front of my window at first, but my kitties decided it was in their way, so....on to Plan B!!

After papering the pieces, I sanded and inked the edges, glued the box together with basic white glue, then painted the words and numbers (which are included in the calendar kit) with acrylic paint. I also painted the Leafy Corners pieces with the acrylic paint; I finished those with Dusty Attic Rusting Powder, and the words/numbers with clear embossing powder.
Thanks for stopping by!

SPARKLE!! September Guest Designer at Gina's

Hi!

I'm so excited to be the September  Guest Designer for Gina's Designs chipboard...the products are fabulous and Gina sent me such a wonderful variety to choose from....it's safe to say I've been in chipboard heaven lately!

My first project (one will be posted each Wednesday this month) is a layout made with the beautiful Kaisercraft Enchanted garden line:

The sweet fairies were perfect for the whimsical, magical feel I wanted; I painted them with acrylic paints, then stamped with Versamark and heat embossed them for a delicate texture and glow.

I added microbeads to the wings just for fun. In the layout's photo is my gorgeous daughter Elizabeth with Lily, the latest feline member of our family...cats seem to follow my girl home all the time (a friend suggested that maybe she rolls in catnip before leaving the house!) Lily has become a beloved family member and I'm sure she'll be featured in more of my pages over time-and of course Elizabeth is the subject of MANY of my layouts! Have a super day and thanks for visiting....Don't let anyone ever dull YOUR sparkle, either!

Altered Paintbrush

What a unique and fun project this was! As soon as I saw this challenge at Laurie Moore's pFacebook page I knew I wanted to give it a try. You can find the Challenge here:

The fabulous steampunk butterfly is by Gina's Designs, and the other goodies are all bits and pieces from my stash. After everything was attached, I just went wild with mist (think the floor of my scraproom might have a permanent rainbow pattern now-LOL!)

Puppy Dreams

I just recently discovered this 3-year-old photo of my daughter and our Toby when she was going through her phone photos, and I had to scrap it!

This page will be submitted for the August Challenge at Scrap around the World and Rochelle Spears' August Scrappy Friends Tic Tac Toe Challenge.

The lovely mood board for Scrap Around the World:

The roses and vines on the shoes on the lower left inspired me, as did the soft colours in the image on the lower right. The hair ornament in the lower center image made me think of pearls. You can find their challenge here:
http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.ca/2014/08/august-2014-challenge-16-elegant.html

For the Tic Tac Toe Challenge

I chose the left vertical column, which includes one photo, dry embossing and pearls. You can find their challenge here:
http://rochellespears.blogspot.ca/2014/08/august-scrappy-friends-challenge-july.html
I used some fabulous Gina's Designs chipboard pieces and cardstock doilies; I heat-embossed a flourish pattern onto the chipboard, and they look much prettier IRL!
I made the roses by tracing the pieces of ones I had, and misted them with Tattered Angels rouge, then lightly brushed chalk ink over them to soften the colour. The lacing is run through strips punched with the Martha Stewart lattice punch.
The bricks were dry embossed with a Tim Holtz folder, and rubbed with the same chalk ink as the roses. I added random punchwork around the edges, and inked the edges with TH Tattered Rose.

Thanks so much for stopping by-have a terrific day!
