Thank you card and mini gift bag for Scrap & Craft

Hello crafty friends-Lynne here with a project using the lovely "Always Together" papers...I love to fussy cut and enjoyed layering the flowers to create dimension and interest, and added a bit of lace to the card for extra texture. The sentiment is made with a die from my stash, and I inked most of the edges in a rose coral that closely matched the colours of the flowers.  I hope you like it!

Cherry Blossoms boxes for Scrap & Craft

Hello crafters!! This is Lynne and spring is finally here in Canada- I'm so pleased to see it! The lovely patterns in the Cherry Blossoms paper inspired me to decorate these plain 4" wooden boxes I found at a thrift store a while back-the small patterns in the 6x6 paper pack were perfect for a project this size.

I used pink tulle to embellish the tops of two of the boxes, with diecut flowers on one and sweet pink Cherry Blossoms on the other. The third box was embellished with a fancy diecut heart. I used three different types of pearls, one on each box, and fussy cut some flowers to add interest as well. The loops and spirals were just strips cut from the patterned paper. All edges were inked in charcoal grey.

Mini-books and bookcase for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hey crafters! Once again I'm lured by the wondrous appeal of storage and organization, this time using the ATC Bookcase and Faux Book Boxes...

The bookcase went together so easily; I used white glue to assemble it after covering the pieces with the patterned paper I chose. I sanded and inked the edges before assembling, then rubbed the ink over each joint afterwards so the edges blended together.

There were plenty of pretty images in the paper collection to fussy cut and use to decorate my project
 .

I added a mushroom bird and some moss to the top, which I thought suited the garden/nature theme of the papers.

I chose the striped paper for the edges of the faux book boxes to mimic the look of pages; when assembling them, I simply used strips of paper to create "hinges" then covered over them, leaving a                                                      slight gap so the hinge could move.

More images from the papers completed the boxes; I wanted to keep the embellishments to a minimum so that they would fit flat against each other on the bookcase.

I had some lovely 7 Gypsies paper with a row of books, and they were pretty much the perfect width to use on these book boxes for a touch of authenticity-I love how they make the books look almost real!! (although tiny!)

The book boxes are ATC sized, but I'm not sure yet what I will keep in them....heaven knows there are lots of options in this overflowing craft room of mine! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I wish you a wonderful week!

All-occasion card and tag for Scrap & Craft

hello crafty friends!! Lynne here with a card and tag set made with the beautiful Morning Dreams II collection; I love the warm, homey look of woodgrain papers and the soft patterns set the background off so well.

I added fussy cut flowers from the paper and a little cheesecloth, then did a little stencilling with texture paste before misting lightly with Tattered Angels glimmer mist.
The title piece was created with a stackable label from Gypsy Soul Lasercuts; I heat embossed the bottom layer and covered the top one with paper before adding a diecut sentiment.

I used the same techniques on the tag, distressing and inking the edges and attaching the fussy cut bits with adhesive foam tape. The diecut sentiment was heat embossed like the label on the card.

The larger white flower is from the store, and the smaller one that I found in my stash coordinated quite well with it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I wish you a wonderful and creative week!

I do believe in fairies! A layout for Gypsy Soul Lasercuts

Hello crafty friends!I absolutely love the wire fairy sculptures by Fantasywire, and have used several of them on layouts; I loved how magical this fairy image looks in the gorgeous frame from Gypsy Soul!

I used the Flourished Open Circle frames and Prima Royal Menagerie papers, fussy-cutting elements from the papers and adding layers and handstitching for interest and dimension. When I handstitch on a project, I usually draw my lines in pencil then poke the holes with a good-sized needle or pin, working with a mouse pad under the project as I pierce it. It is much, MUCH easier to stitch when the holes have been premade like this, and a lot easier on the paper too! I usually use 2 or 3 strands of embroidery floss, depending on the thickness I want.

This butterfly was painter with acrylic paint then heat embossed in clear; I allowed the melted embossing powder to swirl around a bit and make the colours flow.

This butterfly was also painted with acrylic paint and then inked a bit with coordinating colours, but the layer of clear embossing powder was thinner and just meant to give it a bit of a sheen.

The frames and word pieces were all primed in white, then heat embossed with Donna Salazar embossing powder in Jasmine, which created a lovely smooth and shiny surface. I then sponged them with dusty rose pigment ink to echo the colours in the papers.

I popped up the fussy cut bits with some foam tape and added some of my beloved stenciling, and some acrylic dots which echo the touch of warm colour in the photo. I hope you liked my page and wish you a magical day!

April Challenge at Canvas Corp Brands-woodgrain

hi there-I just wanted to let you know there's a great challenge up at CCB for the month of April; this is the sample page I created as a Crew Member there:

I love this photo of my dad with his dog Cody-my dad was a true dog lover and this guy was the last furperson he ever took in. When Cody showed up he was covered in porcupine quills; Dad and his buddies tried to pull them out but ended up having to enlist the help of a veterinarian. Once Cody had recuperated, Dad had a new friend for life!

Here's the blog post with information about the challenge; you can make layouts, cards, 3D, home decor, mixed media, whatever! Check it out and play along :)

Family-a heritage layout for Scrap & Craft

Hello crafty friends! I'm excited to be posting my first DT project for Scrap & Craft!! I was thrilled to receive my box of goodies from Poland; I love the papers they sent me, and  I decided to create a layout with the beautiful Craft Clock papers, "Always Together" using a heritage photo from about 1915.

The flowers on the papers just begged to be fussy-cut, and I layered them with foam tape.

I added loops and spirals made out of the paper as well for extra texture and interest.

Some stencilling with texture paste and a little spray of mist finished things off.

Thank you so much for looking! With lovely papers like these, even a fairly simple layout is such a pleasure to create. Have a wonderful day!
